The minutes of the March19th meeting were read and approved.

Treasurers Report was given by Steve Melchior.  The ending balance as of April 16th, 2007 is $4,143.63.  Steve explained the new format tha he will be using for the financial report.  He reminded the committee that the yearly memberships run from January to December.  Marty Cecil moved to accept the financial report.  After a second from Thomas Palmer, the motion was passed.

Fred Fairchild, the Chairman of the Memorabilia Committee for the Galion City School District gave a presentation on the work that is being done to preserve the historical items from all of the old school buildings and how those items may fit into the new facilities. Brian Treisch will serve on that committee as a representative for the Alumni as help is needed.

Joe Kleinknecht announced that the total for the Entryway Project is at $36,319.00 including pledges.  A plaque will be purchased to include names of donors at an estimated cost of between $5,000.00 and $7,600.00.  A check was presented to the Board of Education at their last meeting.

Plans for the Summer Picnic on July 14th are well under way.  In addition to an old time baseball game, a ladies game is now being organized.  Bill Durtschi and Steve Melchior will be working on these events.

The following people have volunteered to assist in planning Homecoming events for September 28th.

    • Marty Cecil and Jessica Wagner (cheerleading)
    • Rick Walker and Brian Treisch (band)
    • Sue Jarvis
    • Kay Gerlach

Joe Kleinknecht will be chairing the 50/50 raffle. Last years raffle brought in approximately $1600.00.  It was moved by Thomas Palmer and seconded by Bill Durtschi to print 800 tickets this year.  Motion passed.

Tim O'Leary has planned the annual Basketball Tournament for May 11th and 12th.  The high school is again being used for this event.  Tim is hoping for 16 teams.  Drug Mart is donating all of the concession food.  the cost will be $1,100.00 for officials. A $2.00 entryfee will be charged.  Tim will work on a schedule or send an Email if workers are needed.

Albert Treisch has made and donated a quilt fot the Alumni Association to raffle.  The quilt can be seen via our website.  Tickets will be sold May 1st through July 14th.  The drawing will be held at the picnic on July 14th.

Under new business,Thomas Palmer announced that a new non-profit organization has formed to look into the preservation of the 1917 portion of the High School.  In addition to Thomas, the other organizers of the group are Craig Clinger and Brian Treisch.  The new Galion Cultural Conference Center met with Superintendent Denny Rose.  A $125.00 filing fee was reimbursed to the organization from a fund previously established for the purpose of looking into preservation.  (Motion made by Joe Kleinknecht, seconded by Bill Durtschi and passed)

An anonymous donor had procured a loan for $12,000.00 in order to pay the bill due for the repairs on the Weber Piano.  Any money coming in for that project will be flowing through to this magnanimous individual.

More people are visiting the Alumni Association website. Steve Melchior continues to update and improve the site.

As there were no other items on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,
