2024 Hall of Fame 

 The 2024 Hall of Fame Banquet and inductee presentations will be held on October 12, 2024. Do you know a Galion High School Graduate that deserves recognition for outstanding accomplishments in their careers and communities?  Please fill out a nomination form for that individual to be considered for that honor.  Nominating forms are due by June 1, 2024.  Click on the banner below to print out the nominating criteria and and form.  Provide as much information as possible, but most importantly nominate some one you feel is deserving of recognition.

Connections Weekend Meeting Notes      5/18/2016

In Attendance: Kyle Baughn, Gary Frankhouse, Jim Grubbs, Joe Kleinknecht, Shawna Layland, Rick Maddox, Steve Melchior, Sandy Powell, Tom O'leary, Dave Spraw, Marilyn Stepro & Brian Treisch

Co-chairs Brian Treisch & Dave Spraw opened the meeting;

Sub-Committee Responsibilities:

Marketing: Shawna will help to set-up the "Connections" Facebook page and asked for other volunteers to help w/the site development; Brian & Kyle offered to help;

Financial Report & Fundraising: $16,065 were raised last year; expenses paid were $11,128; $14,994 Bank Deposit; $15,000 invested in Edward Jones; Joe Kleinknecht stressed the need to raise funds in order to cover costs of the "Connection" events;

Hall of Fame Nominations: Brian has spoken to Historical Society for possible names of graduates from pre-WWII;

Bonfire: Thursday, October 13th - Kyle will communicate to youth and HS teams & cheerleaders to hold the date for the bonfire; Jim shared the names of Jessica Hammond, Rick Walker & Katherine Nutt, elementary music teacher as contact for Bonfire entertainment;

Career Day @ MS: Friday, October 14th - Gary mentioned that Ryan Karbula showed interest, but is currently working in Sandusky; Brian will contact him; 

Tom commented that the Pioneer students would be good spokespersons to the MS age group;  Rick Maddox offered to be a helping hand to the chair;  

Shawna recommended using Facebook and "boosting" the Galion HS Connection Weekend info;

Homecoming Football Game: Friday, October 14th - Will have additional details at the next meeting;


Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast: Saturday, October 15th - Joe & Brian commented that the breakfast is on par; Jim Grubbs asked if it would be possible to hold the 5K and if possible to have student music performances and market to the soccer families for possible breakfast participants;


Hall of Fame Dinner & Awards: Saturday, October 15th - Marilyn commented that she will call AVITA for catering; she also has spoken with Craig Alguire to create a G trophy table centerpiece w/a photo of former HS.;


Other: Discussion was raised for the purpose of the "Connections Weekend."  

The Auditorium/Auxiliary Gym was shared with the group; questions were raised about the architectural drawings that were prepared several years ago; Tom O'leary also discussed the use of debt to realize this district project; Marilyn emphasized that there are wealthy alumni who may have interest but have never been asked to contribute; Joe will contact Dick Cope and Jim will contact Chris Stone for photos to be sent to Shawna; 


Next Committee Meeting: Wednesday, June 15th @ 7:30 a.m.;
