2024 Hall of Fame 

 The 2024 Hall of Fame Banquet and inductee presentations will be held on October 12, 2024. Do you know a Galion High School Graduate that deserves recognition for outstanding accomplishments in their careers and communities?  Please fill out a nomination form for that individual to be considered for that honor.  Nominating forms are due by June 1, 2024.  Click on the banner below to print out the nominating criteria and and form.  Provide as much information as possible, but most importantly nominate some one you feel is deserving of recognition.

Connections Weekend Meeting Notes                              August 17, 2016

In Attendance: Jen Allerding, Kyle Baughn, Jim Grubbs, Joe Kleinknecht, Shawna Layland, Rick Maddox, Steve Melchoir, Tom O'Leary, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw & Brian Treisch

Financial Report - Dave Spraw will provide a report on financials at the next meeting;

Review Minutes - No amendments to the minutes were recommended

Committee Updates -

Bonfire/Pep Rally - a Spirit Club will be involved this year as guided by coach Michael Moore; also the Parents Club will be bringing a car for smashing early at the event; Tom O'leary offered some ash wood removed from the city sites for the bonfire if needed; Brian mentioned the need for a sound system at the bonfire site; Rick Maddox offered a portable sound system from their church - electricity would be needed;

Pancake Breakfast - All is ready for the Saturday morning breakfast; entertainment will be coming to perform at the breakfast to draw additional business;

Alumni Band Night - Brian noted that the band will be participating at the Homecoming Game;

Hall of Fame Nominations - 5 nominations have been received; Brian asked to meet on September 2nd @ 8:00 am at the Chamber Office;

Dinner/Banquet - Marilyn is on vacation, but menus & centerpieces are planned; Rev. Darren Harvey from First UCC and Al Sisson, St. Joseph's Parrish will be providing invocation and for the Hall of Fame Dinner;

Fund Raising - Alumni Association - Since last meeting $8450 has been collected for the weekend's events;

Program - Dave will be ready to begin preparing bios and preparing the HOF program;

Awards - Schilling is still providing the awards; Miranda Jones is coordinating the selection of items for HOF honorees and Career Day participants;

Career Day - Jen Allerding reported her involvement in coordinating the MS Career Day; Shawna shared that Spherion will share 2 alumni for the event and also provide funding; Joe reminded that Shawna, Jim, Jen and Rick are on the committee this year;

Status of Auditorium Design Update - Jim reviewed the previous auditorium design plan and estimated that the plan for Galion would be in the neighborhood of $5 to $7 million;

Other Business - Advertising: Joe asked about the billboard; Jim indicated that he can have the billboard prepared using PCTC and NC State's resources @ a reduced fee from last year; Shawna explained her work on the Facebook site; Tom recommended promoting the auditorium design project to the Community Theatre Board and other Alumni involved in theatre; Shawna agreed to prepare the Events page on Facebook; Brian reminded everyone about the 300 Club tickets;

Next Meeting - Wednesday, September 7th @ 7:30 am.
