2024 Hall of Fame 

 The 2024 Hall of Fame Banquet and inductee presentations will be held on October 12, 2024. Do you know a Galion High School Graduate that deserves recognition for outstanding accomplishments in their careers and communities?  Please fill out a nomination form for that individual to be considered for that honor.  Nominating forms are due by June 1, 2024.  Click on the banner below to print out the nominating criteria and and form.  Provide as much information as possible, but most importantly nominate some one you feel is deserving of recognition.

Connections Weekend Planning Meeting                 August 16, 2017

 

Agenda

 

In Attendance: Kyle Baughn, Terry Gribble, Jim Grubbs, Miranda Jones, Joe Kleinknecht, Rick Maddox, Steve Melchoir, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw, Marilyn Stepro & Brian Treisch;

 

Financial Report: No news at this meeting.  Fundraising letters will be prepared and mailed soon;

 

Review of Minutes - Minutes were approved;

 

Committee Updates:

 

Bonfire/Pep Rallly - CheerleadersMarching Band & Alumni Band will be present; there may be a food fundraiser organized by the Band Parents, Kyle will inquire w/ this group; Bonfire to begin at 6:50 pm;

 

Pancake Breakfast - Kiwanis met yesterday and will work with school personnel about entertainment; Miranda also announced that the 5K run is pulling together for the morning of the breakfast, the route will extend to the Westmoor area;

 

Alumni Band - Rehearsals have been ongoing during the summer and are looking forward to attending the bonfire and homecoming game;

 

Hall of Fame Nominations - recipients have received their announcement letter; responses have been received from Chris Bailey, Lee Burkum & Matt Smith (honorees include - Judy Beers, Arthur Poister, Dr. Paul Kim, Marc Enright, Matt Smith, Dr. Lee Burkum & Dr. Chris Bailey);

 

Dinner Banquet - Marilyn announced that the number of attendees need to be sent to the AVITA food service (Wade Cramer, chef) a week prior to the event;  MS students will serve dinners; centerpieces will be for sale @ $10 each;

 

Fund Raising - Jim asked questions about district website use regarding the advertising of the event; the alumni association posts all available information on their site, including past year's information;

 

Program - Dave is ready to receive bios and ads to begin building the program;

 

Awards - Miranda shared that the awards have been ordered for the career day speakers and HOF recipients;

 

Career Day - Jim shared that Jen has been working with Sarah Wegesin and Tracie Wittibslager for Career Day speakers;

 

New Business - Capital Planning - Jim announced that Charlene Parkinson will be meeting with financial advisors (Baird Financial) for guidance on any new district construction projects; Jim also shared the possible estimates for varying building scenarios and the possible need to go to the voters for approval; Third Friday event is this Friday 8/18 from 4:30 - 8:00 pm; Jim announced that the mobile billboard has been constructed and ready for a banner; Joe agreed to call Ralphie's manager for use of space; Rick Maddox also offered use of church space for mobile sign if necessary;

 

Next Meeting - Wednesday, September 20th @ The Galion Schools' Administrative Center.
