Connections Weekend Planning Committee Meeting Notes

October 6, 2021

In Attendance: Jen Allerding, Kyle Baughn, Terry Gribble, Miranda Jones, Joe Kleinknecht, Steve Melchoir, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw, Tasha Stanton, Brian Treisch & Paul Wheeler

Financial Report - Synergy investments totaling $59,308.53 are in the investment account  w/Ed Jones Trust Co. and $14,631 is in the local checking account. Joe Kleinknecht moved to approve the financial report and Jen Allerding seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Approve Minutes - July, August & September minutes were reviewed. Terry Gribble moved  to approve the minutes and Steve Melchoir seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Marketing/Fundraising -

 Connections Weekend 2021 Events

     - Bonfire & Pep Rally October 14th @ 6:45 pm

     - Career Day - MS @ October 15th beginning @ 8:30 am  

     - Homecoming Game - October 15th w/Lima Central Catholic

     - Alumni Band - October 15th @ 5:00 pm; Alumni Band members would like to set a tent set up for visitation after the half-time show- Kiwanis Pancake Day. 

     - October 16th @ 8:00 - 10:30 am @ Intermediate School. Tina Crim, Principal and Shannon King, food service director will be school contacts

     - Connections/YMCA 5K Race & 1 Mile Walk - October 16th @ 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. beginning at the Elementary School parking lot.

      - Hall of Fame Dinner - October 16th @ 6:30 pm at the MS Cafetorium w/catered dinner from AVITA.

Hall of Fame 2021 Honorees

Gene Bosler "61, Martha Belle Boyd "17, Lupe Campo "73, Mary Court "62, Chet Foraker "54, Deb Garverick "76 and Max Ness "61 are the 20/21 honorees.

Hall of Fame Dinner - October 16th @ GMS Cafetorium @ 6:30 pm.  Doug Frederick @ AVITA will prepare the meal with his team. Sandy will be ordering dinners today w/AVITA Catering Department. Paul Wheeler will have the access to the MS kitchen and dining room for deliveries at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 15th. Paul will also have 10 round tables and 2 rectangular tables ready on Friday afternoon. Seating will be prepared for 60 participants. Flower Cart will also deliver centerpieces on Friday afternoon. Tasha will inform the new choir director, Jane Kundu, to have the Showtunes performers at the MS to sing the Alma Mater @ 6:30 pm and Pastor Ash Welch will then lead the invocation prior to dinner.  Middle School students will again serve the meals to the guests.

HOF Program & Awards - Dave has plaques ready and the program draft will be sent to Beth Jarvis at A1 Printing on Friday, October 8th.  Miranda delivered the HOF recipient awards to the Administrative Center and Jen will have them delivered to the MS prior to the dinner.  Committee members will call several businesses re: purchasing ad space in the program as in prior years. 

Performing Arts Center - Jen and Brian will determine a meeting time for Cramer and Associates to speak w/our committee members about project fundraising.

Other:

Tasha Stanton shared a 1902 SPY recently mailed from Rick Drolling of Wisconsin. This Spy will be kept with the other yearbooks at the Administrative Center.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 10, 2021 @ 7:30 am @ Galion City Schools Administration Center.
