January 20, 2025 Dear Galion Alumni: Welcome to 2025 and a year of new opportunities. The Galion Alumni Association continues to transition and look for more opportunities to support the Galion City Schools and its students. A new project was identified and continues to be developed. It involves student organizations maintaining landscaped areas of the Galion City School Campus with the Alumni association providing the funding. This is an ambitious effort and can be a long term opportunity to keep the school campus appealing to the eye. We humbly seek your support and you are encouraged to offer your suggestions as to what you would like the Association to offer to members and to consider personally participating as a board member. Membership in 2024 was at 130 dues paying members, of which 92 are Lifetime Members. Most of our annual members are individuals or couples that maintain their memberships year after year. We would like to encourage those members that are local to participate by attending the monthly meetings and participating in the activities of the Alumni Association. Alumni Association information and activity updates may be found either on the Galion Alumni Association website or Galion Alumni Facebook page. A membership form is availaible here. Galion Alumni Association 2024 Update Income: The sale of 300 Club Tickets for the 2024/2025 season fell short of expectations this year. Only 247 of 300 tickets were sold. This brought in $4940.00 with $3000.00 of that to be awarded to drawing winners. How does it work? At each home game during football and basketball seasons, two tickets are drawn to determine winners of $100.00 each. Those tickets are then returned to the container and are eligible for future drawings during the season. Membership dues provided the other source for revenue for 2024 which were down significantly from previous years and provided $735.00 in revenue. The balance of our income was attributed to donations $10.00 and investment income of $1278.00 Total income for 2024 was $6,967.30 Expense: The Alumni association sponsored an ad ($250.00) in the Sports programs and a Sponsorship Package ($2,500.00) for Connections Weekend. Donations were made to the Junior Prom Parents Committee ($200.00) and the Middle School Spooktackular Event ($100.00). Expense Items this year included $84.00 for Post Office Box fees, 300 Club drawing winners and ticket printing costs $3,513.93, and fees for our 2025 website hosting were $395.88. Total expenses for year totaled $ 7,168.81. In Summary, Income for 2024 was down and expenses went up. The Galion Alumni Association continues to be a participating member of the Connections Weekend Committee. This Committee is responsible for the production of the Galion Connections Weekend which will be held October 9-11, 2025 The Alumni Association plays a large role in the Hall of Fame event and encourages the submission of nominations for Galion High School graduates that deserve recognition. Nominations for the 2025 Hall of Fame inductees are due by June 1, 2025. The Connections Weekend Committee maintains a file of nominations submitted, but not selected from previous years for future consideration. All of the Connections Weekend events are open to the public and are not restricted strictly to Alumni. We encourage your participation in these events. The Connections Weekend is intended to serve as a fund raising vehicle to provide funds to assist in finding the means to fund the building of a Performing Arts Center on the Galion City Schools Campus. This is an extremely ambitious undertaking and will continue to be a priority project in 2025. This will be a multi-million dollar project and will require some large donors to step forward. Planning is in process for providing funding for this large project and The Alumni Association is committed to providing any support possible to help accomplish an acceptable end result. There will be a strong effort to identify other projects that would be of benefit to the Galion City School district and its' students. You are encouraged to visit the Galion Alumni Association Facebook Page or the Galion Alumni Association website.
