The annual Galion Alumni Tournament was held May 11 and May 12, 2007.  This was the last tournament to be scheduled by this group at the old high school gymnasium.

There were 11 teams with 90 participants involved in this years tournament. The event was organized by Tim O'Leary with the support of the Galion Alumni Association.  Any proceeds from the event will be donated to the new high school entryway project.

Tournament sponsors for this years event included: American Family Insurance, Courtesy Auto Mall of Galion, Crawford County Family Eye Care, East of Chicago Pizza, Flick's Packaging, Fox Plumbing and Heating, Gledhill Lumber, Uptowne Outfitters, Varsity Grille and Wade Law Offices.

The 11 teams were divided into two divisions with winners of each division facing off in the championship game. Teams represented classes from 1993 to 2006.  The winning team, finishing with a perfect record, was the class of 1998.  This effort made the third time in a row that they have claimed the tournament championship.  To claim the championship, they had to defeat the class of 2002 in overtime by a score of 37 to 35.

The Galion Alumni Association would like to thank Tim O'Leary for organizing the 2007 tournament.  Congratulations to the tournament champion  and runner up teams. We wish to thank all participants, players, officials, sponsors, volunteers and spectators for making this event a success.

Next years Alumni Tournament will be played at the new high school "air conditioned" gymnasium.  Tim O'Leary will again be organizing this event.  The Galion Alumni Association supports Tim in his efforts and in doing so put out a call for volunteers to help organize and work the tournament. Help is needed in manning the concession stands during the tournament.  Along with this request for help will be changes to provide earlier communications concerning dates and times.  Also, in consideration are the inclusion of age brackets to encourage participation of older alumni.

We welcome any comments or suggestion that will help make the 2008 Alumni Tournament a bigger and better event.  You may Email your ideas through the Contact Us  menu item.
