Here are some projects that we are planning for the remainder of 2006 and on into 2007 –

New School Entry Signs:New Galion High School
The Galion City Schools are building all new school buildings.  The Alumni Association has stepped forward to raise $45,000 to build electronic entryway signs for the new high school and middle school campus.  This committee is headed by Brian Treisch, with help from Gary Riddle, Joe Kleinknecht, and Steve Melchior.  Watch for more information about this visible and memorable project.

Adaptive Reuse of the Current High School building:
Galion Historical SocietyThe Alumni Association, with the Galion Historical Society and others, commissioned a study to determine if the current high school facility can be adapted for another use.  The preliminary study was very positive that this could be done.  Association president Thomas Palmer is heading the committee to work on this exciting project.

Weber Piano Restoration Debt Retirement:
Three years ago, a project was started to restore the Weber Grand Piano that has been at the high school since 1935.  The piano was restored, but the original group failed to raise the money.  The Alumni Association has stepped forward to retire this remaining $13,000 of the original $25,000.  We need your help TODAY on this project.

Galion High School Recognition Breakfast:
As part of our mission to recognize current students performance, the Alumni Association hosts a quarterly breakfast to reward those students making the honor role at Galion High School.  This event has been well received by the students and is a wonderful project for the Alumni Association.  Current high school principal, and Association board member Joe Gotchall heads this effort.

Oktoberfest Fund Raising:
The Alumni Association held a raffle at last year’s Galion Oktoberfest to raise funds for the Association.  This year, planning is underway to make this more successful and to reach the over 25,000 people who attend the great Oktoberfest music festival.  We are looking for good ideas!

Galion Alumni Association Newsletter:
We are planning a bigger and better newsletter to go out three times each year.  Watch for the first issue coming soon, but only if you are a member of the Galion Alumni Association.

There are many more projects that we can and should be working on, but we need your membership and support to move ahead.

Join with us to build a stronger Alumni Association and a better future for current Galion students and our hometown.  Please take time today and join!

Yours truly,

Thomas ("Tom") Palmer
