Class Reunion

September 7th, 8th, and 9th of 2007

Members of the Galion High School Class of 1957 met in Galion for their 50th class reunion September 7th, 8th and 9th of 2007. Class members came from 14 states for the reunion. Those included  Ohio, Minnesota, North Carolina, South Carolina, California, Michigan, Arizona, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Texas, Colorado and Utah.

Friday night, class members attended the Galion-Bucyrus football game at Heise Park, where the class was recognized at the end of the first quarter for their attendance. The Galion High School Band entertained them at half time with a medely of songs from the year 1957. After the game the class attended a social hour at the Varsity Grille.

Saturday morning, class members enjoyed a tour of the new Galion High School at 10:00 a.m., followed by a tour of Brownella Cottage and the Galion Historical Museum at noon.

Saturday evening, class members enjoyed a social hour beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Galion Country Club.  A 1957 Chevrolet Convertible was furnished by Mr. Fred Lawson of Mt. Vernon, Ohio for the class picture. Dinner was at 7:00 p.m., followed at 8:00 p,m. with entertainment provided by the Galion High School Showtunes with several songs from 1957.

After dinner and entertaiment, a short business meeting was held with the 1957 Class Officers presiding.  After the meeting, class members participated in a Trivia Quiz made up from information from the year 1957.  Jay DeNise of Marion, Ohio scored an 85% on the quiz and was the prize winner.  Through out the evening several other door prizes were awarded along with a 50/50 Drawing.

Sunday morning, class members met at the Varsity Grille for Sunday Brunch and more socializing. Out of the 104 invited graduates, a total of 51 class members along with their spouses made it to the reunion, making it a successful weekend for the Class of '57.  We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2012.
