1952 Graduating Class of Gallon High School Celebrates its 55th Reunion

The 1952 graduating class of Gallon High School celebrated its 55th reunion Sept. 21 and 22. The theme "Keep it Simple" was followed.

Friday evening, 31 class mates, friends and spouses met at the Galion Pizza Hut for an evening of reminiscing.

Saturday morning the group gathered at the Galion Elks Club from 8 until 10 a.m. for a breakfast buffet.

Saturday morning after breakfast, the class toured the new high school building. Joe Manley, head custodian at the' school, conducted the tour. Everyone was impressed with t he beautiful new building.

Sixty-two people were served a dinner at 7 p.m. at the Elks Club. Bill Debolt gave the table prayer.

Both the breakfast and the dinner were prepared and served by Michael Hocker and his helpers. The food was delicious and tastefully served.

John and Kathleen Schalip and June and Dick Cope were co-chairpersons for the reunion. They were assisted by Bill and lola Debolt, Dick and Phyllis Eusey. John and Jean Henry, Elaine Hottenroth, Dick and Elinor Kelly. Bev and Robby Robinson and Joel and Treva Seckel.

John Schalip and Bev Robinson were in charge of drawing names of class mem bers who were given the small table decorations and two potted mums, which were donated by a local flower shop.

Hottenroth, treasurer, gave a financial report. Joel Seckel read the names of members deceased since the fiftieth reunion: Jane Metz Brown, Michael Dougherty, Irene Wright Hinkle. and Don Weithman.

Plans were made for a reunion in 2009. Carol and Sonny Mansperger were elected to be co-chairpersons in 2009.
