Alumni Band Night Looks To Be A Big Night!

The annual Alumni Band night at Galion’s Unkrich Stadium on October 10, 2008 is shaping up to be a great night. “We are ahead of previous year’s numbers, we have more former flag corps members coming back, former cheerleaders and more majorettes,” said Alumni Band director Brian Treisch. “We always hope for at least 50 former band members to come back and it looks like we will easily surpass this number.”

Practices for the Alumni Band are set for Sunday, September 28 and Sunday, October 5 at the Galion High School band room. These are music rehearsals and are important to get all the names ready for the marching block. Field rehearsals are Thursday, Oct. 9 at 5:30 and Friday, Oct. 10 at 5:00. Anyone wishing to be a member of the band needs to be at one of the music rehearsals or contact Brian Treisch at 419-468-2900. Those needing an instrument need to contact Treisch by October 5.

Alumni Band members and all Galion Alumni are invited to meet at the Varsity Grill following the football game. “This reception is a great time to see old classmates and meet new friends,” said Treisch.

All former members of the Galion Tiger Marching Band, flags, majorettes, and dance team are welcome to return to Galion for one more performance. The Galion Tiger Alumni Band is possibly the oldest continuously active high school alumni band in the state. The Alumni Band has performed at the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival Parade, the Bexley Fourth of July Parade, the Fredericktown Tomato Festival and many other festivals in Ohio.
