Something GREAT is happening in Galion!  We hope that you choose to be a part of this event.

The Galion City Schools, Galion Alumni Association, Galion Community Education Foundation, Galion Tiger Alumni Band, Galion Community Center/ YMCA, Galion Community Foundation, and the Galion Booster Club have joined together for a Connection Weekend.  This Connection Weekend is a celebration of Galion, a learning experience for Galion high School students, a way to meet and reconnect with friends and family in Galion and the exciting kickoff for the preliminary planning for the new Galion Arts and Activity Center on the campus of the new Galion Schools.

  Thursday, September 24th
The Galion Community Theater will be the setting for the Connections Weekend 2009 Alumni & Friends Event on Thursday, September 24th. The evening's festivities will kick-off at 6:30pm with registration, hors d' oeuvres, and networking.

At 7:30, Dr. Kathy Jenney will make a presentation about the purpose of Connections Weekend, followed by Mr. Gary Frankhouse introducing the Career Day Speakers in attendance, and Mr. Brian Triesch will conclude the presentations by introducing the evening's honored guests.

The evening will conclude with featured speaker Carl Johnson, a 1985 Galion alum currently working for Honeywell, followed by socializing and networking. This is a free event with a $5 donation gladly accepted. Tickets the night of the event are $10 at the door.  To reserve your tickets prior to the 24th, please call the Galion Board of Education office at 419-468-3432 ext. 4636, Uptowne Outfitters at 419-468-2900, or the Galion Chamber of Commerce at 419-468-7737.  Parking for the event will be available in the First United Church of Christ parking lot from 6-8pm.

We hope you will make plans to join us for a great night of recognition and networking with Galion alumni!

Friday, September 25th
Career Day 2009, as a part of Connections Weekend 2009, is an opportunity for the Galion alumni to share their professional experiences with current Galion students.

The day's activities start bright and early at 8am with panel discussions involving students and Galion alumni. After a break for lunch, students will have the opportunity to network with alumni in 2-38 minute Career Sessions based on the student's interest.

We've currently have nearly 40 alumni confirmed to participate in Career Day 2009. Click Here to view a list of confirmed attendees and careers where alumni are still needed to participate. We would like to thank OSU-Mansfield and Marion Technical College for their support of our Career Day activities.

If you are interested in participating in Career Day 2009, please contact Gary Frankhouse at 419-295-1686 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Friday night will be the Homecoming Game at Unkrich Stadium in Heise Park and the annual marching band reunion.  What a great evening to reconnect with your classmates and friends.  You might even want to break out that “closet horn” and join the band for this fun evening and watching the current Tigers in an exciting football game.

Saturday night will see the first class inducted into the Galion High School Hall of Fame.  This Hall of Fame is to honor Galion graduates and Galion Educators who have made their marks after graduation.  Nominations are being received for this first class.  A formal Banquet will be held at the Galion Middle School to honor those notable graduates.

With this effort we hope to raise $50,000.00 to start the process of adding a wonderful Arts and Activity Center to the campus of the Galion City Schools.  We need you and your support to make this weekend a tremendous success.
