Messiah Rehearsal Starting

The Galion Community Chorus and Orchestra, under the direction of John Sikora, is preparing for this years performance of Handel's Messiah.  Rehearsals for this annual performance start Monday, November 2, at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The rehearsals will be held at the First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West in Galion.  Further rehearsals will be Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 23, and Nov. 30.  A final rehearsal with orchestra will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 10:00 a.m.

The annual performance of Handel's Messiah will be on Sunday, December 6 at 3:00 p.m.  at the First United Church of Christ in Galion.  Admission to the performance is free.  A free will offering will be collected.

All area vocalists are invited to join the chorus.  This challenging work is under the Mr. John Sikora, former director of Opera at Kent State University.  "This is a wonderful opportunity for high school and other vocalists to perform with an orchestra", said Sikora.

This year's performance will feature a newly purchased harpsichord.  This Italian made instrument was purchased by the Community Chorus through generous donations.

Anyone having questions about the rehearsals or the performance can contact Rev. Sam Buehrer at First United Church of Christ at 419-468-4380 or Brian Treisch at 419-468-2900.
