Galion City School Hall of Fame Seeks Nominations For 2011
Saturday, 19 March 2011
The Synergy Committee, organizers of the Connections Weekend for the Galion City Schools, is requesting nominations for the Galion City Schools Hall of Fame.  The Galion Alumni Association, a member of the Synergy Committee, is coordinating this nomination process.

We are looking for Galion graduates or faculty members who have made significant contributions to their communities or to their respective field.  Many of our current students are not aware of the success many Galion graduates have had after they complete their education here in Galion.  All of the organizations that make up the Synergy Committee agree that students need to be aware of the opportunities out there and the great accomplishments made by many of our graduates. Nominating Criteria for the Hall of Fame can be viewed HERE

Nominating forms are available online HERE , the Galion City Schools Administrative office, the Galion Area Chamber of Commerce office, or at Uptowne Outfitters.  Nominations must be submitted to the Galion Alumni Association at any of these locations or mailed to P.O. Box 22, Galion, OH, 44833.

“We had a terrific class for the Hall of Fame last year”, said Dr. Kathy Jenny, superintendent of the Galion City Schools.  “I hope that we will have another strong group nominated this year.”

The 2011 Hall of Fame Class will be honored at a dinner on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011. The recognition dinner is part of a Connections Weekend being planned by the cooperative efforts of the Galion City Schools, the Galion Community Education Foundation, the Galion Alumni Association, the Galion Booster Club, the Galion Tiger Alumni Band, and the Galion Community Foundation.  Representatives of all of these organizations have formed a synergy committee to work on this project and to identify other areas in which combined organizations can cooperate.  “There is common ground, yet very separate areas of focus for each of these organizations,” said Jenney.  “It is vital that we work together when a common cause can be identified."

More details of the events planned for this special weekend and awards dinner will be made public as the date comes closer.  Tentative plans for this weekend include a career day, featuring Galion graduates talking about their careers on Friday, a golf tournament to raise funds for the planning study, Alumni Band Night at the football game, and the aforementioned dinner.

Anyone having questions regarding the nominations for the Hall of Fame should contact Brian Treisch at 419-468-2900.
