Open Appeal to Members of the Class of 1960
Sunday, 20 August 2006

In our lifetimes we have a lot of opportunities to have memorable experiences that shape the direction we take in our lives.  For me and for many others, one of those experiences was living in Galion and attending Galion Schools. There were many great teachers that were truly dedicated to teaching us what we needed to know to take the next step in life. Life was simpler and different back then.  We benefitted from our learning experiences. There were life long Galion residents who gave back to the youth of the community. Because the world has changed and Galion has changed, the number of benefactors has been reduced by people moving on. A sort of emptiness now exists where once there was there was leadership and support.

The point of this article is to have the members of the class of 1960, think back to those times and be thankful for the time in which we were so fortunate to reach adulthood.  There are few times that an opportunity exists to participate in something that will show appreciation for what was given to us. That opportunity exists now through the Galion Alumni Association.  The non-profit organization was formed approximately four years ago to provide a service to the Galion City Schools and to the members of the graduating classes of Galion High. Through this organization, we as members hope to fund beneficial projects and programs for the Galion City Schools. We look to provide a service through our website to all of the graduating classes when it comes to maintaining contacts with class members and to facilitate reunionion announcements. It will provide a common place for registered users to maintain contact with classmates in other locales. Other benefits will materialize as the organization grows.

We currently need volunteers to be come board members and news contributors to the website.  Financial contributions are always appreciated. Our current project is to provide the funding for the entryway to the new Galion City School Complex.

Having said all of that, I hope that members of the Class of 1960 will become the leaders in participation in the organization. I would like to encourage all to join the Galion Alumni Association and if possible become a Life Member.  There are several of our classmates that have done so. Information is available on this website to allow you to join. If you do nothing else, please become a registered user (no cost) of the website.  It will allow you access to other registered users and allow you to view their profiles and photo galleries. Please join with me in becoming a Glaion Alumni Association member.
