Connections Weekend Meeting Notes 6/17/2016 In Attendance: Jim Grubbs, Miranda Jones, Tom O'Leary, Marilyn Stepro, Brian Triesch, Dave Spraw, Steve Melchoir, Matt Tyrrell, Joe Kleinknect, Gary Frankhouse, Sandy Powell, Shawna Layland. Financial Report: Brian asked for any updates; no change in funds since May meeting Review Minutes: Everyone received the email notes from Sandy; Sub-committee Responsibilities: Bonfire/Pep Rally - Kyle was not in attendance this month; Pancake Breakfast - Kiwanis Club has been notified of this year's dates; Alumni Band Night - Brian Treisch had no new information to share this month; Hall of Fame Nominations - Alumni Association will be sending a couple of names of alumni from the early 1900's for the sub-committee's review in July; Dinner/Banquet - Marilyn announced that the chef at AVITA will prepare the meal; October 3rd will be the due date for reservations; Jon Denoon, HS Industrial Tech teacher, will prepare the table center pieces; committee discussed dinner fee - it will remain the same @ $35.00 per seat; Fund Raising - Alumni Association will send a mailing in July regarding the 2016 Connections events and opportunity to contribute; Program - Dave S. will continue to prepare the program once the inductees are determined; Pioneer will provide the banner; A-1 Printing will still print the program; Awards - will be discussed in more detail at next month's meeting; Career Day - Jim Grubbs announced that Galion Middle School will still host the Career Day; Tom O'Leary questioned the career day format and the number of local trades representatives having the opportunity to participate; MIranda shared the possibility of using video media to communicate their job/trade; Dave commented on the comfort-level and availability of speakers; Co-chairs will be Jim Grubbs, Shawna Layland and Rick Maddox; Next steps for the new auditorium project - Brian asked for guidance and direction on the project; Jim offered to reach out to Ashland School District for information about their recent construction; recommendations for the committee representation were suggested; Jim reminded that this project will be for an auditorium and not the multi-use facility; Tom suggested to reach out to the larger employers in the community to support this project; Other Business - Steve asked about sponsorships and posting information on the Alumni website; Steve will email the art to Jim for use in a variety of formats; Matt Tyrrell introduced himself and explained his role in the district's "Leader in Me" project; he will continue to look at ways to interject this "Leader in Me" project into the Connections Weekend program; Miranda asked about Schilling's gift ideas and their usefulness, committee responded favorably to the past tokens used for appreciation; Next Meeting will be Wednesday, July 20th @ 7:30 a.m. at the Admin. Center. |
