Connections Weekend Planning Meeting                     Sept 21, 2016

 

In Attendance:  Kyle Baughn, Jim Grubbs, Miranda Jones, Joe Kleinknecht, Ric Maddox, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw, Marilyn Stepro, Chris Stone & Brian Treisch, 

 

Financial Report/ Fund Raising -  Dave received $100 check this week, total of $10,851 has been received to date; still awaiting funds from several groups who have sponsored in the past (i.e., GEA, NC Success Center, Lifetouch ); several members will make contacts with former sponsors;

 

Review of Minutes - were discussed;

 

Committee Updates:

 

Bonfire/Pep Rally - Kyle reported that the "smash car" will not be used as an activity; the bonfire will be in the practice field, north of the baseball field;

 

Pancake Breakfast - Galion Intermediate School from 7:00 - 11:00 am; please take a poster to advertise, tickets are $6.00;  entertainment from student groups will be provided;

 

Alumni Band Participation - approximately 70 alumni will be attending the "David Bowie Show;"

 

Hall of Fame Nominees - Gayle Dull (03), Kevin D. Arnold (75),William R. Durtschi (40), Rick L. Jobe (82), Scott Edward Palmer (81) & Jim Wegesin (Galion Outstanding Educator); recommendations for upcoming years - Horace Freese and Arthur Poister;

 

Hall of Fame Dinner - Reservations will be taken through October 7th; AVITA is catering the meal; Stacy Kuehlman will take the reservations at the Administration Center; Marilyn is prepared to make changes to number of tables; Dustin Edgell will meet Marilyn at the MS @ 3:00 on Friday for table set-up; October 14th for table set-up and Jacki Corona will meet w/Marilyn on Saturday @ 3:30; perhaps one of the wrestlers will make the introduction for Jim; Darrin Harvey & Al Sisson will be the representatives from the Ministerial Association;

 

Program - Dave will begin the bio's this week and Chris Stone will send an article to the newspapers that outlines the weekend's events; Jim Grubb, will send his program letter to Dave; Dave will work with A1 Printing;

 

Awards - Miranda ordered pen's for Career Day and the award for recipients of the Hall of Fame Dinner, compliments of Schilling's Graphics;

 

Career Day - Jen Allerding has it all ready for the MS students on October 14th;

 

Other Business - Proposed auditorium design will be displayed before the dinner; the Hesby family has never been thanked formally for the donation of the school campus property; still needed - a PowerPoint presentation for the evening of the Hall of Fame Dinner (Kyle will ask Jim about preparing the presentation);

 

Next Meeting - Wednesday, September 28th @ 7:30 am @ the Administration Center;
