Connections Weekend Planning                               November 7, 2018 

 Agenda:

In Attendance: Kyle Baughn, Terry Gribble, Jim Grubbs, Steve Melchior, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw, Chris Stone & Brian Treisch.

Financial Report: Most bills have been received from Pioneer, AVITA, Trophy House, A-1 Printing;  will provide updated fund totals when all bills have been paid;

Review of Minutes: Minutes were approved by the committee;

Coordinator's Report: Brian recommended to continue a coordinator's position; the committee discussed the duties - keeping an updated spreadsheet of past recipients, preparing fund raiser communication and other possible communication duties; Chris Stone has offered to support the committee with these tasks; Jim recommended that at the next meeting we can detail the duties and determine the next direction of the coordinator;

Committee Updates:

Bonfire/Pep Rally - Was well attended, new PA system worked well;

Pancake Breakfast - Most successful breakfast ever with profits at $1455;

Alumni Band - nice number of attendees; would like more participation from the 1980 - 1990 classes;

Hall of Fame Nominations - The following HOF nominations new to 2019 are: David Campbell, Mary Court, Ken Jarvis & Ed Snyder; our committee will continue to disseminate the new cards to prospective HOF nominees;

Dinner Banquet - Ordered dinners for 75 people and had 77 people attend; thanks to AVITA for their meal preparation; a request was made to add an option for subs as well as pizza for the servers; committee recommended to continue to use AVITA for the 2019 banquet;

Fund Raising & Promotion - Thanks for the live stream and nominations' cards as new items for this year's efforts;  committee will continue to work on fund raising efforts for the 2019 Connections Weekend event;

Program - Dave commented on the program development w/Marilyn Stepro as his proof reader;

Awards - Nice job w/ speaker gifts and plaques; the Trophy House and Photorama were very accommodating; Brian said that he would prepare a thank you note to Craig Alguire for his last minute work on Saturday w/honoree photographs;

Career Day - Jim thought it went well but feels that it can be changed for the students and will work with building administrators to modify this part of the weekend;

Capital Planning Updates - excavation is occurring on west side of the campus for the soccer fields and bus/maintenance garage;

New Business - Next year's Connections Weekend will be October 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2019;

Next Meeting - Wednesday, January 9th @ 7:30 am @ the Galion Schools' Administrative Center.
