Connections Weekend Planning Meeting                        April 10, 2019

Agenda

Attendance - Kyle Baughn, Steve Melchior, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw, Chris Stone, Brian Treisch, Rick Walker and Sarah Wegesin;

Financial Report - Dave shared that a check was sent to the Trophy House for Mark Stepro's plaque and earnings of the Synergy account were rolled back into the Ed Jones fund.

Coordinator's Report -  Chris reported that most of the sponsorship letters were mailed and the remaining will go out when new envelopes are received from the print shop at PCTC, he will also meet with Cathy Moneysmith from the Galion Community Foundation to set-up a PayPal account for the Connections Weekend project, photos will be taken of past HOF inductees to be used for promotion w/ the Alumni Association and the Connections Weekend committee, Mark Stepro's plaque was given to Kyle Baughn for placement on the HS HOF recognition wall;

Committee Updates

Bonfire/Pep Rally -  Will occur Thursday evening, October 3rd;

Pancake Breakfast - Is planned for October 5th;

Alumni Band Performance - Brian shared that the band will participate in the October 3rd Rehearsal and October 4th @ Homecoming Game;

Hall of Fame Nominations - Chris has posted the nomination announcement with the media outlets and related websites; 2019 HOF nominations on file include: David Campbell, Mary Court, Deb Garverick, Jerry James, Ken Jarvis and Kelly (Dye) Rowland & Ed Snyder; no new nominations have been submitted since the March meeting;  nominations close June 1st; Chris will be contacting the nominations who have not submitted biographical information for the following:  Mary Court, Deb Garverick, Jerry James & Ken Jarvis;

HOF Banquet - October 5, 2019; Sandy will contact AVITA's Food Service as a date saver; Chris will work with Sandy to create a registration link for dinner reservations;

Fund Raising - Chris is distributing Sponsorship letters with a participation deadline of September 6th;  see more notes in the "other business" section; Brian encouraged further discussion of new auditorium at  upcoming Alumni Association meeting;

Program - A1 Printing will continue to be the company used for 2019;

Awards - Dave will be using Deans Trophy House for the 2019 Banquet;

Career Day - No Report;

Other Business -  Discussed use of Synergy Funds, approximately $50,000, for more than just a performing arts center; discussion continued on future projects that may be forthcoming:  Welcome arch at football stadium, wrestling center fundraiser using the 50th year of GHS wrestling as the springboard, Show Choir risers, replacement music room flooring, new band uniform pants ($100 per pair), new Yamaha Clavinova piano for the MS, additional music filing cabinet, cleaning of velvet curtain @ HS, pad, additional funds for district-owned music instrument repair & replacement; Dave will give Mike Jokerst's framed photo to his mother;
