Connections Weekend Planning Meeting                  June 12, 2019

Agenda

Attendance - Jennifer Allerding, Jim GrubbsJoe Kleinknecht, Steve Melchior,     Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw, Chris Stone & Brian Treisch

Financial Report - Dave Reported that Funds were received this month as follows:  $50 from Vic Smith, $251 from United Bank, $300 from Jeff Kirk - Dostal & Kirk Insurance & Financial Services, $300 First Federal Savings & Loan, $250 from  Hottenroth, Garverick, Tilson & Garverick Co., LPA.

Coordinator's Report -  Chris reported his interest in updating the program and will contact A1 Printing; he will create a PDF to share with the committee for review prior to the September 1st print deadline; Galion Community Foundation has an approved Paypal account which will support the Connections Weekend; Chris worked with Cathy Moneysmith from GCF to establish this new payment method.

 Committee Updates

Bonfire/Pep Rally -  Will occur Thursday evening, October 3rd; Elementary Tiger Dash will run in the afternoon of October 3rd at the stadium; also, a PBJ 5K will occur on October 5th - details to come.

Pancake Breakfast - Is planned for October 5th.

Alumni Band Performance - the band will participate in the October 3rd Rehearsal and October 4th @ Homecoming Game.

Hall of Fame Nominations - 2019 HOF nominations on file included: David Campbell, Mary Court, Deb Garverick, Harold "Tubby" Garverick, Harry Garverick and  James Garverick, Jerry James, Ken Jarvis, Joe Kleinknecht, Tom O'leary, Kelly(Dye)Rowland, Ed Snyder, Vicki Trapp and Kyle Zeuch; the selection committee met after the Connections Committee meeting and selected the following HOF members for 2019 - HAROLD "TUBBY" GARVERICK (55); HARRY GARVERICK (56), JAMES GARVERICK (58), JERRY JAMES (44), KEN JARVIS (65), JOE KLEINKNECHT (60), KELLIE ROWLAND (77), VICKI  TRAPP (79) & KYLE ZEUCH (03); Chris Stone will contact the HOF honorees and the nominees who will remain on file for future consideration.

HOF Banquet - October 5, 2019 @ Galion MS; AVITA will be catering.

Fund Raising - Chris will prepare and distribute sponsorship letters to prior inductees.

Program - A1 Printing will continue to be the company used for 2019.

Awards - Dave will be using Deans Trophy House for the 2019 Banquet.

Career Day - Jennifer shared that Career Day will still happen for Grade 8 students at the Middle School and is working with the MS principal.

Other Business -  Jim reviewed the history of the auditorium planning and fundraising; Dave also shared existing interest in the auditorium project working with the Galion Community Foundation, Steve shared interest by the Alumni  Association to assist in school/related projects; Brian recommended that our  committee meet in July focus on the planning procedures needed to bring the auditorium project to the forefront again of this committee's work; include Terry Gribble and Matt Smith in the planning meeting.
