Connections Weekend Planning Meeting                   September 16, 2020

In Attendance:  Jen Allerding, Kyle Baughn, Terry Gribble, Joe Kleinknecht, Steve Melchoir, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw and Brian Treisch

Financial Report - No new items.

Approve Minutes - August 19th meeting minutes were approved; Motion made by Steve Melchoir and seconded by Terry Gribble. Motion carried.

Connections Weekend School Events - Senior Celebration - October 15th at the stadium @ 7:00 pm. Senior members of the fall sports teams and band will be recognized. Also, planning to recognize Homecoming Court. This event will be live streamed and only families will attend. No Homecoming Dance for 2020.

Career Day Options on October 16th are in process. Jen will check with Middle School staff for this year's participants.

Connections Weekend Community Events - YMCA sponsoring the annual 5K race on Saturday, 10/17.

Past honorees media recognition - Jen shared a "Throwback Thursday"  theme that would highlight Hall of Fame classes each week using a  slideshow presentation format. This presentation could then be posted on   the district's and Alumni Association's Facebook page and/or website.  "Throwback Thursday' could begin at the end of September and run through the middle of October. Chris Stone will prepare the Hall of Fame  presentations. The committee members also agreed to be interviewed for upcoming district posts, expressing why they commit their time and energy to "Connections Weekend/Hall of Fame" annual project.  Brian will prepare a letter to past HOF honorees and send it out to the committee for review. This letter could also be used for media coverage.

Performing Arts Center - no further planning will be held until 2021 due to pandemic concerns. Brian will communicate with the Garverick's.

Other - Jen also shared that the district is running a levy renewal campaign. She, also, explained the 3 new district grants, "Before/After School Program, " the "Early Literacy Program," and the state  "Technology Connectivity Grant." These are areas of importance in supporting our student's learning needs.
