Connections Weekend Planning Committee Meeting       February 16, 2022

In Attendance: Jennifer Allerding, Kyle Baughn, Terry Gribble, Steve Melchoir, Melissa Miller, Sandy Powell, Dave Spraw, Tasha Stanton and Brian Treisch

Financial Report - No new deposits or payments. An audited copy of the accounts will be presented next month.

Review and approve minutes - Minutes from the 11/10/21 meeting were reviewed. Terry motioned to approve, Melissa made the second and the motion carried.

Marketing and Fundraising - A district newsletter will be circulated as a general mailing to Galion City Schools' households. Jennifer will let Brian know the due date for articles. Jennifer also shared that Gene Bosler, inducted in October ‘21, sent a donation of $500. She thanked him for the generous donation.

Connections Weekend 2022 Events - October 13 - 15, 2022

Bonfire, Pep Rally & Alumni Band Practice @ Unkrich Stadium - Thursday, October 13th

Career Day @ Middle School - October 14th

Homecoming Game w/Pleasant HS @ Unkrich Stadium - October 14th

Kiwanis Pancake Day @ Intermediate School - October 15th - would like to increase attendance

YMCA 5K Race & 1 Mile Walk @ Middle School - October 15th - a.m.

Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony @ Middle School - October 15th; AVITA catering

Performing Arts Center - Brian reported that the Cramer & Associates proposal for fundraising was too expensive for our project. Their proposal would be $5000 to $12,000 per month for fundraising support. Jennifer shared that the district could only conduct a $4 million bond levy based on current financial status of previous district construction bond pay out. Planning options for fundraising and ways to reduce the project cost will continue.

Other:

2022 nominations would be promoted in March with a June due date & selection meeting TBD.

Jen will ask Stacey and Regina for their interest in helping with committee support this year.

Steve led discussion of Alumni Association support and the need for younger alumni leadership for a stronger association.

Jen shared that the district is looking for employees, especially bus drivers. Also, the stadium will have a new paint job and new fencing has been installed to the street side section of the stadium complex.
