Connections Weekend Planning Committee Meeting Notes

October 5, 2022

In Attendance:  Jennifer Allerding, Kyle Baughn, Terry Gribble, Regina Jutz, Steve Melchoir, Melissa Miller, Sandy Powell, and Brian Treisch

Approve Agenda - Sandy motioned to approve and Steve seconded, motion carried.

Financial Report - No report for this meeting.  Updated report will be given at our next meeting.

Review and approve minutes - Minutes from the 9/21/22 meeting were reviewed.  Corrected spelling of Mark Rantala's name.  Steve motioned to approve, Terry made the second and the motion carried.

Marketing and Fundraising - Sponsorships are still coming in from September phone calls.  Final list of sponsors will be shared at our next meeting.

Connections Weekend 2022 Events - October 12 - 15, 2022

●      New event - Fall Choir Concert @ HS on Wednesday, October 12th @ 6:00 pm

●      Bonfire, Pep Rally & Alumni Band Practice @ Unkrich Stadium - Thursday, October 13th @ 6:45 pm

●      Career Day @ Middle School - October 14th

●      Homecoming Game w/Pleasant HS @ Unkrich Stadium - October 14th

●      Kiwanis Pancake Day @ Intermediate School - October 15th - from 8:00 - 10:30 am

●      YMCA 5K Race & 1 Mile Walk @ Middle School - October 15th - 9:00 a.m.

●       Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony @ Middle School - October 15th @ 6:30 pm; AVITA catering.  Dinner reservations for 75 participants have been received.  Set up will happen @ the MS on Friday afternoon, October 14th @ 3:00 pm.

Performing Arts Center - Brian stated that an upcoming meeting w/Galion School District officials and Port Authority members will be held. Our committee will receive a follow-up report at a future meeting.

Other:

●      Jen shared that MS students are ready to greet and serve guests at the HOF dinner.  A HS Quartet will start the dinner with the GHS Friendship song and Alma Mater. The MS Career Day is also prepared.  The Kiwanis Pancake Day will have entertainment from a variety of school groups.

●      Pastor Hunter Hickman, of Real Life Nazarene Church, will conduct the HOF dinner invocation. 

●      Next year's Connections Weekend will be held Oct. 12 - 14.  Football game against Clear Fork

Next Meeting: Wednesday, Nov. 9th @ 7:30 am at the Galion City Schools Admin Center.
